Coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Arts, the professional association for design), 100 designers nationwide were invited to participate in the AIGA Centennial, “Celebrating AIGA, 1914-2014” project. Each of the 100 designers had to select a year and in a square format, design something significant about their chosen year.
I chose 1953. I have a deep core memory of watching Queen Elizabeth's televised cornation as a small child ,on a small black and white television.
My mother, a lover of British history and royalty, had named me Elizabeth in honored of Princess Elizabeth.
My concept was based on the format and visual language of a British stamp featuring the Coronation Crown to symbolize the event.
